ENAAT Annual Meeting, Zürich, 14 June - 16 June 2013

Programme

The Programme of the ENAAT Annual Meeting starts on Friday, 14 June, at 18:00 and ends around lunchtime on Sunday, 16 June. You can find the draft programme here. Please let us know if you have ideas for additional workshops!

Accommodation

Switzerland and especially Zürich are expensive places. As we wanted to keep the ENAAT meeting as accessible as possible, we decided to go for a very basic, but cheap option: A boy scouts cottage on the Uetliberg mountain overlooking Zürich (map / pictures / plan view) . This mass accommodation house offers only large dorms for most participants, but it also offers tremendous mountain views - when the weather is fine. The cottage is located a 20 minute train ride plus an additional 20 minute walk away from Zürich's city center.

Please let us know if you are looking for a more central and less adventurous accomodation: We will also be able to offer some spare beds (and couches).

What to bring with you

If you stay in the boy scouts cottage, please bring a sleeping bag with you. (Out of experience, we also recommend to have ear plugs ready in case you need to protect yourself against snoring...)

Arrival / Getting Around

From the airport to the city center / the university:

There are trains every 10 to 15 minutes to Zürich Main Station (online timetable). This journey takes around 15 minutes. Tram No. 10 goes directly from the airport to the university (stop "ETH/Universitätsspital"), but this takes around 40 minutes.

From the main railway station to the university

There are various ways how to get to the university, where the debate on Friday night takes place (Google Map), either by foot, by tram or - the most enjoyable option - using the Polybahn.

To Gartenhofstrasse (Saturday's meeting)

The meeting on Saturday will be at Gartenhofstrasse 7. The closest tram stop is "Werd". If you stay in the boy scout's cottage: We will go to Gartenhofstrasse together - so no chance to get lost. :-)

From the main railway station to the boy scout's cottage on the Uetliberg mountain

The train to the Uetliberg mountain leaves Zurich main station roughly every 20 minutes from the underground Track 2 / Bahnhof SZU. From the last station of the train, we will walk for another 20 minutes to the boy scout's cottage (map).

Tickets

If you stay in the boy scout's cottage and you arrive by plane, it might be worth to buy a "72 hours ZürichCARD" in the airport train station. If you only do the necessary trips between the different meeting venues by public transport, the ZürichCARD is slightly more expensive than if you buy single tickets. But with that card, you don't need to worry about the ticket every time we take a tram or bus.

Costs

The cost for the two nights' accommodation in the be boy scout's cottage and most food (except when dining out) will be 40 Euro or 48 CHF. The cost only for lunch on Saturday and Sunday is 20 CHF or 15 Euro.

Please also calculate between 30 and 40 Euros for public transport from the airport to the city center and between the different locations and the boy scout's cottage (see above).

If you have problems to afford participation at the meeting, please let us know. We do have a small fund to help with travel costs.

Registration

Please register on our Google online form, so that we know how many participants we may expect. It would be great if you could register at the latest by the end of May.

Swedish-Swiss Day

It would be great if Swedish organisations could arrive a day earlier to discuss the campaign against the JAS-Gripen deal.
